Former Senate President, Senator Ameh Ebute, alongside key stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State, have thrown their weight behind Governor Hyacinth Alia, endorsing him for a second term in office ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The endorsement came during a stakeholders’ meeting held in Okpokwu, where party leaders and members from Edumoga and Okpokwu converged to rally support for the governor and the APC’s broader agenda. The meeting was addressed by the Executive Chairman of Okpokwu Local Government Area, Hon. Adah Mathew Inalegwu, who emphasized the importance of unity, loyalty, and collective responsibility within the party.
In his remarks, Chairman Inalegwu urged APC members to set aside personal ambitions and prioritize the party’s interest, stressing that the success of the APC in the 2027 elections would hinge on their ability to function as one united family.
“The success of the APC in 2027 will largely depend on our ability to work together as one family, set aside personal interests, and mobilise massive support for the administration of Gov. Hyacinth Alia,” he said.
In a demonstration of solidarity, Senator Ameh Ebute moved a motion for the formal endorsement of Governor Alia and continued backing for his administration. The motion was unanimously adopted by APC leaders and stakeholders present from Edumoga and Okpokwu.
Party members described the endorsement as a powerful vote of confidence in the governor’s leadership and performance since taking office. They pledged to consolidate the gains recorded by his administration and work toward ensuring continuity beyond 2027.
The official statement announcing the endorsement was signed by Itodo Itodo, Personal Assistant on Media and Publicity to the Chairman of Okpokwu Local Government Area.
The development signals growing support within the APC in parts of Benue South Senatorial District for Governor Alia’s re-election bid. It comes amid ongoing efforts by the party to strengthen internal cohesion and position itself strongly for future electoral contests in the state.
As political activities intensify toward 2027, endorsements such as this are expected to shape the dynamics within the APC and influence broader conversations around succession and continuity in Benue State governance.
