The Executive Chairman of Katsina-Ala Local Government Area in Benue State, Hon. Justine Shaku, PhD, has conducted an on-site inspection of ongoing construction work at the newly upgraded Shitile Technical College in Tor Donga.
The visit focused on the foundation laying stage of three multi-storey buildings being developed on the campus. The structures are designed to accommodate a modern library, an administrative block, two students’ hostels, and a conference hall. When completed, these facilities are expected to significantly transform the learning environment and expand capacity at the institution.
The inspection follows a recent directive from Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, who announced the elevation of the former Shitile Community Secondary School to a full-fledged Technical College. The governor ordered immediate commencement of work to fast-track infrastructure development and bring the upgrade to reality.
Hon. Shaku commended the state government for the prompt implementation of the directive, describing the project as a landmark intervention that will greatly strengthen skills acquisition, technical education, and youth empowerment in Shitile and the broader Sankera axis. He emphasized that the initiative aligns with the administration’s commitment to expanding access to quality, practical education across the state.
The upgrade and associated construction reflect the Ali administration’s sustained priority on technical and vocational education as key drivers of economic development and self-reliance among young people in Benue. Stakeholders in the education sector have welcomed the visible progress, viewing it as a concrete step toward equipping the next generation with relevant skills for the modern economy. As construction advances, the project is anticipated to become a model for similar interventions in other parts of the state.
