The Benue State Teaching Service Board (TSB) has issued an urgent public alert cautioning residents and job seekers against a misleading message currently circulating on social media that falsely claims the opening of an application portal for teaching recruitment.
In an official statement released on its verified platform, the Board categorically denied the authenticity of the viral claim. It clarified that His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Chief Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has not directed the Executive Secretary of the TSB, Rt. Hon. Bem Tseen, to open any portal for applications or to commence any form of recruitment exercise.
The statement further emphasized that no official announcement regarding the opening of an application portal or the start of a recruitment process has been made by the Teaching Service Board.
“Please be cautious of fake news and verify information through official TSB Benue State channels before acting,” the Board advised, urging the public to rely solely on verified communication from the TSB to avoid falling victim to scams or misinformation.
The clarification was signed by Comfort Dooga-Umande, the Information Officer of the TSB, on behalf of the Executive Secretary. The warning comes amid heightened public interest in potential teaching job opportunities in the state, where past recruitment exercises have attracted large numbers of applicants.
The TSB’s swift response underscores ongoing concerns about the spread of fraudulent recruitment notices on social media, which often exploit the aspirations of unemployed graduates and qualified educators in Benue State. Authorities have repeatedly stressed the importance of cross-checking claims with official government sources to prevent financial loss and wasted effort from fake application processes.
