The All Progressives Congress (APC) Utange Ward in Ushongo Local Government Area of Benue State recently hosted a significant meeting, featuring a heart-to-heart discussion with Hon. Toryila Agbo, the pointman for Governor Alia’s Mata Zone A. The event took place on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at the party’s secretariat in Ikyo-Azande.
The meeting saw Hon. Agbo, tasked with leading the people of Utange and Ikyo towards a decisive victory for Governor Alia in the 2027 general election, engage with local party leaders. In a welcome address, Utange APC Chairman, Hon. Työheen Felix Zungweren, commended Governor Alia and the people of Ushongo for appointing Hon. Agbo, a son of Utange with decades of political experience, to this critical role. The chairman expressed the party’s confidence in Agbo’s leadership and assured unwavering support for both him and the governor.
Responding, Hon. Agbo expressed gratitude to the governor and the APC Mata Zone A for entrusting him with such a challenging yet prestigious position. He dedicated his appointment to the Utange and Ikyo APC communities, emphasizing that success hinges on their collective support. “I alone cannot succeed without the support of Utange and Ikyo people,” he stated, pledging to carry their aspirations forward.
The meeting also featured strategic planning, with Hon. Agbo collaborating with party leadership to outline master plans. A key focus was encouraging eligible voters to participate in the ongoing Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) at the LG secretariat in Lessel. This initiative aims to boost voter registration, strengthen the existing voter base, and garner support for Governor Alia’s re-election in 2027.
The event drew notable figures, including Azenda Orlu, Sir Benedict Yawe, Legislative Aide to Simon Gabo, Hon. Kwen Dagi, former APC Ward Chairman, and Hon. Tyochir Anikpa, among others. Speakers congratulated Hon. Agbo on his elevation and called for unity among party faithfuls. They advocated for grassroots mobilization to ensure victory for Governor Alia and APC candidates in 2027, urging Agbo to convey Utange’s message to the governor and secure key appointments for local sons and daughters in the cabinet.
This strategic gathering underscores the APC Utange Ward’s commitment to strengthening its political influence and supporting Governor Alia’s leadership ahead of the forthcoming elections.
