The Benue State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare has inaugurated a 12-member committee to verify assets under the Adolescent and Young Persons (AYP) Programme ahead of their transfer to the state government.
Inaugurating the committee on October 12, 2026, in Makurdi, the Commissioner, Mrs Theresa Odachi Ikwue, said the Ministry was committed to ensuring transparency, accountability and sustainability of services for adolescents and young persons.
The assets, procured by APIN Public Health Initiatives, are being transferred to the state through the Ministry following a directive from the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Ikwue charged committee members to physically inspect the assets, verify them against the official register and document any discrepancies. The exercise is scheduled to run from October 14 to 18, 2026.
She assured the committee of the Ministry’s support and urged members to uphold professionalism, impartiality and integrity. The Ministry expects the committee to submit a comprehensive report to guide the proper handover of the assets and ensure continuity of the programme.
