Reverend David Ogbole, a former NDC Benue South Senatorial aspirant, has been appointed Deputy Director-General of the Shija/Edoh Governorship Campaign Organisation ahead of the 2027 general elections in Benue State.
His appointment was announced in an updated list of campaign officials released by the Benue State Chapter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), ahead of the inauguration of the campaign team scheduled for Tuesday, 13 October 2026, at the campaign office along Makurdi–Otukpo Road, Makurdi.
Ogbole, who earlier sought the party’s ticket for the Benue South Senatorial District, is among those given key responsibilities in the governorship campaign of Professor Terhemba Shija and his running mate, Dr Raymond Edoh. He was named Deputy Director-General of the Shija/Edoh Campaign Organisation, while retired Navy Commodore Joseph Dzumve was appointed Director-General.
He was also listed as Deputy Director for Religious and Ethical Campaigns, giving him an additional role in the campaign structure. The updated list named Professor Isaac Onyike as State Leader, Hon. Victor Toryila Hemba as Deputy State Leader, Professor Terhemba Shija as Chairman of the Governorship Campaign Organisation, and Dr Raymond Edoh as Deputy Chairman.
Several other party members, including retired military officers, academics, professionals and grassroots politicians, were also appointed to various positions in the campaign organisation. According to the party, the appointments are intended to strengthen its campaign activities, improve coordination and deepen mobilisation across the 23 local government areas of Benue State.
The NDC congratulated all those appointed and urged them to work together in the interest of the party, stressing the need for unity, discipline and commitment as the 2027 elections draw closer. It also made it clear that the list is not final, as more party members may still be brought on board.
For Ogbole, who was previously in the race for the NDC Benue South Senatorial ticket, the appointment marks another chapter in his political involvement with the party, this time at the leadership level of its governorship campaign. The campaign team is expected to be formally inaugurated on Tuesday, 13 October 2026, in Makurdi.
