Governor Alia Raises Concerns Over Huge Garnishee Awards Against State and Local Government Accounts

Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has raised concerns over the huge financial awards arising from garnishee proceedings against state and local government accounts, warning that such deductions could undermine the government’s development efforts.

He disclosed this on Monday at the Benue State High Court Headquarters in Makurdi during the special court session marking the opening of the 2026/2027 Legal Year.
