The Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. James Dwem, has been honoured with an Award of Excellence by Benue State youths in recognition of his contributions to youth development, good governance and the advancement of the state.
The award was presented to him on Wednesday, 12 August 2026, at IBB Square, Makurdi, during the 2026 Benue State International Youth Day Celebration.
Speaking after receiving the honour, Hon. Dwem expressed appreciation to the youths for finding him worthy of the recognition. He said the award would further strengthen his commitment to supporting programmes and initiatives that create opportunities for young people.
He encouraged Benue youths to take advantage of available opportunities to acquire relevant skills, build sustainable livelihoods and contribute meaningfully to the development of their communities. He urged them to remain focused, responsible, hardworking and united, stressing that the future of Benue State largely depends on the commitment, resilience and determination of its younger generation.
Hon. Dwem dedicated the award to Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, describing it as a reflection of the administration’s commitment to empowering young people and creating opportunities for their growth and development. He also called on Benue youths and citizens to continue supporting the Governor’s administration, noting that sustained collective support is essential for the effective implementation of programmes and policies aimed at advancing the state.
The Commissioner reaffirmed his commitment to serving the people of Benue State and supporting initiatives that promote development, youth empowerment and a better future for all.
