The Secretary to Oju Local Government Council, Dr. Benson Egbodo, on behalf of the Council Chairman, Hon. Ominyi Jackson Adah, received a delegation from the China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) as efforts intensify toward the construction of the Oju-Obi-Otukpo Road project.
According to a post by the Igede Firsts platform, the Chinese team arrived with specific conditions, stating that construction of the road will commence once the Igede people meet their demands. The development has been described as being outside normal political arrangements.
The visit underscores ongoing interest in improving critical road infrastructure in the Igede area of Benue State, a project long anticipated by residents for better connectivity and economic opportunities between Oju, Obi, and Otukpo.
Photographs shared alongside the post show members of the Chinese delegation alongside local officials, as well as images highlighting the current state of the road network. As discussions continue, stakeholders are expected to engage further on the conditions presented by the Chinese firm.
