Idoko Maria Favour Onyowoicho, a 200-level student of the English Department at Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi, has emerged as the winner of the prestigious Face of NAIS Nigeria, organised by the National Association of Idoma Students (NAIS).
The Owukpa-born beauty from Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue State distinguished herself among contestants and proudly represented the Idoma nation to clinch the coveted title. Born into a family of seven, Maria began her education at Redeemer Nursery and Primary School in Anka, Kogi State, before proceeding to Our Lady of Fatima Girls Secondary School in Aidogodo, Okpoga, Benue State.
A devoted Christian and practicing Catholic, Maria serves actively as a chorister in her church and is passionate about singing and dancing. Speaking on her victory, she expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity to represent the Idoma people and promote their rich cultural heritage.
“As the Face of the National Association of Idoma Students, Nigeria, I am honored to represent my people with pride, culture, and excellence,” she stated.
Her achievement has been widely celebrated across Idoma land, with students, friends, and supporters hailing it as an inspiring milestone for young people aspiring to excel in academics, leadership, and cultural representation.
