In a heartwarming display of dedication, a young boy in Benue State has been rewarded for his commitment to education. On September 8, 2025, Nicodemus Iorcher, a newly appointed teacher with the Benue State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), began his duties at LGEA Primary School Tse-Ikyor in Guma Local Government Area. To his surprise, only one pupil turned up on his first day—a young boy in uniform who sat alone as the sole learner.
Moved by the boy’s determination, Teacher Nicodemus snapped a photo of the moment and shared it online. The post quickly caught the attention of Iho Terence, who was inspired by the child’s dedication. In a generous act of support, Terence gifted the boy ₦10,000 to encourage his pursuit of education.
On Tuesday, September 16, 2025, Teacher Nicodemus formally handed over the cash to the pupil in the presence of his parents and the school’s Headmistress. The gesture has been widely praised as a testament to the power of community support in fostering education.
This touching story highlights the resilience of students and the impact of compassionate individuals in Benue State. For more local updates.
