INEC Benue State Begins Display of Preliminary Voter Register for Claims and ObjectionsThe Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Benue State has commenced the display of the Preliminary Register of Voters (PRV) for the claims and objections exercise following the conclusion of the second phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR).
In a press release dated 27th April 2026 and signed by Shikfu Sim Bewaran, Administrative Secretary on behalf of the Resident Electoral Commissioner, INEC announced that the exercise will run from Wednesday, 29th April 2026 to Tuesday, 5th May 2026.
During this period, the Preliminary Register of Voters will be displayed daily from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at all 23 Local Government Area INEC offices across Benue State. The exercise is designed to allow newly registered voters, those who transferred their registration, or updated their bio-data to verify their details and request corrections where necessary.
Members of the public are also encouraged to inspect the register and submit objections against ineligible entries, such as underage persons, deceased individuals, non-residents, non-citizens, or anyone legally incapacitated.
INEC emphasized that this public scrutiny is a critical step towards producing a clean, accurate, and credible voters register, which forms the foundation for free, fair, and credible elections. The Commission urged all eligible citizens and registered voters in the state to take advantage of the opportunity to participate actively in the process.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner for Benue State, Mallam Aminu Kassim Idris, reiterated the Commission’s commitment to promoting public participation and ensuring the integrity of the electoral process.
Voters are advised to visit their respective Local Government INEC offices within the stipulated hours to check their records and file any claims or objections before the window closes on 5th May 2026. This exercise remains a vital civic responsibility for all residents of Benue State ahead of future elections.
