The Benue State Commissioner for Marine and Blue Economy, Mr. Dennis Ter Iyaighgba, has expressed confidence in the leadership of the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) for its role in complementing the state government’s efforts toward quality and effective service delivery. This statement came during a familiarization visit to the RAAMP office complex in Makurdi, where the Commissioner was accompanied by key officials from his office.
During the visit, Mr. Iyaighgba, joined by his Chief of Staff, Richard Imoter Nomkpo, Technical Assistant Dr. Samuel Iyaighgba, Head of Media, Publicity, and Orientation Lubem Gena, and other team members, emphasized the importance of synergy with RAAMP. He highlighted that the visit aimed to explore partnership opportunities aligned with the state’s policy framework to actualize the governor’s vision for a renewed Benue.
The Commissioner expressed satisfaction with the ongoing transformation at the RAAMP office complex, noting its potential as a platform to sustain momentum in improving the fortunes of rural dwellers. His mandate includes overseeing water transport, managing facilities like sand and gravel operations, establishing Jetties (JTs), monitoring water pollution, and fostering stakeholder engagement to support government policies aimed at repositioning the state.
In response, the State Project Coordinator for RAAMP, Stephen Nunbeve, welcomed the Commissioner’s visit, describing it as timely in pursuing quality programs to alleviate the conditions of rural communities. He outlined RAAMP’s mandate, which includes improving rural roads, constructing stores and warehouses, and building culverts and bridges spanning 23 local government areas of the state. Nunbeve underscored the project’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure and supporting agricultural development across Benue.
The collaborative effort between the Commissioner’s office and RAAMP signals a promising step toward achieving the state’s developmental goals, with a focus on uplifting rural livelihoods and strengthening the state’s economic foundation.
