Yenge Raphael Awards Scholarships to 120 Students in Tarka LGA

The Executive Chairman of Tarka Local Government Council, Hon. Yenge Raphael Aondoseer, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to educational development with a scholarship award ceremony held today at Township Hall, Wannune. The event saw 120 students receive scholarships, marking a significant step toward empowering the youth of Tarka LGA and Benue State at large.

 

The occasion, attended by parents, students, traditional rulers, and local dignitaries, featured the presentation of full scholarships to third, second, and first-position winners in the 100-metre race, sack race, bottle race, debate, and quiz competitions held during the 2025 Children’s Day Celebration. Additionally, the Head Boy and Head Girl of both secondary and primary schools that participated in the event received cheques covering three terms of school fees for the 2025/2026 academic session. Six students from higher institutions also benefited, with cheques covering tuition and accommodation.

In his address, Hon. Yenge emphasized his vision of building a future powered by skills, knowledge, and innovation, describing the scholarships as strategic investments in the future of Mbakor. He encouraged the beneficiaries to strive for greater academic heights and motivated those not selected, noting that the initiative will continue indefinitely under his administration.

The Benue State APC Secretary, Prof. Bem Angwe, commended Yenge’s philanthropic efforts and urged him to sustain support for more scholarships. Other speakers, including the PSA to the Governor on Local Government Monitoring and Coordination, Hon. Ioryue Yaji, and the Special Advisor to the Governor on Women Affairs & Renewed Hope Initiative, Hon. Mrs Scholastica Terngu Ben-Sor, praised Yenge’s achievements and urged students to seize this opportunity.

The event also featured a goodwill message from the Tarka Traditional Council, with Chief Gandeoerun Orakaa pouring royal blessings on the chairman and wishing him well in bringing more dividends of democracy. Musical performances by Alia Performing Musicians and Jacob Orya added to the festive atmosphere.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Head Boy of Rock Foundation College and the Head Girl of Mbakor Community Secondary School, Wannune, expressed gratitude and encouraged Yenge to do more. The Education Secretary of Tarka LGA, Bro. Kwaghbo Aondoakaa KSM, echoed this sentiment, offering prayers for Yenge’s continued success and impact.

This initiative underscores Yenge’s people-oriented leadership and commitment to human capital development, earning widespread applause from the community.
