On this day, September 19, 2025, the institution reflects on its rich history and enduring legacy, tracing its origins back to September 19, 1946, when HRM Orchivivirgh Makir Dzakpe was appointed as the first Tor Tiv. The Tor Institution has since been a cornerstone of leadership and tradition in Tiv Land. Following Tor Dzakpe, a series of distinguished leaders have upheld this legacy. Their Royal Majesties Gondu Aluor, Akperan Orshi, Akawe Torkula, and the current Tor Tiv, HRM Orchivivirgh Prof James Ortese Iorzua Ayatse, have each contributed to the institution’s growth and influence.
