The Executive Chairman of Tarka Local Government Council in Benue State, Hon. Yenge Raphael, has announced an expansion of his administration’s education support programme by offering free registration for the 2026 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination to an additional 400 indigenes of the local government area.
This latest initiative brings the total number of beneficiaries to 500, following an earlier announcement by Hon. Aloho Gabriel that covered 100 students across all courses. The statement was issued through the Chairman’s Chief Press Secretary, Buluku Barnabas Terkula (Yenge), on Monday, January 19, 2026.
According to the release, the move is aimed at supporting students in accessing higher education and significantly alleviating the financial burdens associated with JAMB registration fees. Hon. Yenge Raphael has been a consistent champion of education in Tarka, having previously awarded scholarships to 120 students and donated 10,000 exercise books to pupils and students across the local government area.
The free registration exercise is described as a deliberate effort to complement the education reforms being implemented by Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia, with the goal of uplifting educational standards and expanding access to tertiary education opportunities for young people in Tarka Local Government Area.
In related developments, a JAMB mock examination has been scheduled for Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Mbakor Community Secondary School, Wannune. Interested students are advised to attend with their writing materials. Selection for the mock exam will be based on the first 500 positions.
The statement emphasized that the programme remains strictly non-political, and political appointees have been advised to stay away from the exercise to maintain its focus on genuine educational support.
This latest intervention by Hon. Yenge Raphael continues to reinforce his administration’s commitment to human capital development and the empowerment of Tarka youths through accessible and quality education.
