A heated controversy has erupted in Benue State following a social media post by an individual identified as “D’naked Elder Zege’Orkwande,” prompting urgent calls for the Benue State House of Assembly to summon and sanction the poster. Dr. Aondona Mkor, the indefinitely suspended SSA on Documentation, Research, and Strategy, has accused the individual of making inciting, contemptuous, and threatening remarks against the newly elected Speaker, Hon. Berger Alfred, and the entire legislative body.
The original post, shared on August 27, 2025, refrained from offering congratulations to Hon. Berger Alfred Emberga on his new role as Speaker. Instead, it criticized his past actions and urged him to “fix your name before Benue people or get stained completely with your actions as speaker.” The post emphasized the legislative body’s role in assisting the executive and judiciary to develop the nation and called for respect and friendship in governance, referencing former Speaker Rt. Hon. Aondona Dajoh as a friend and brother.
Dr. Mkor, in a strongly worded response, labeled the post as a “direct and intentional insult, embarrassment, contempt, and ridiculous incitement of the public.” He argued that the remarks not only target the Speaker but also undermine the sanctity of the Benue State House of Assembly and its representation of the state’s people. He urged the assembly’s leadership to protect its integrity by taking decisive action against Zege’Orkwande.
In a follow-up statement, Dr. Mkor clarified that neither the Benue State House of Assembly nor Speaker Hon. Alfred Berger was established to distribute money to idle people for celebrations, countering a narrative suggested by the original post. The situation remains tense as the public awaits the assembly’s response.
