The Och’Otukpo, the paramount traditional ruler of the Idoma people, has ordered herdsmen to immediately vacate Otukpo land following recent deadly attacks on communities in the area.
The directive comes amid heightened tension and public outcry after suspected armed herdsmen carried out attacks on Ugboju and Otukpo-Nobi communities, resulting in multiple deaths and injuries.
The traditional ruler’s order is seen as a strong response to the persistent insecurity threatening the peace and lives of residents in Otukpo and surrounding areas.
The development was announced as breaking news by Idoma Television on Sunday, July 12, 2026.
