On December 25, 2025, Emmanuel Myam, the Nigerian adventurer better known as Real-Emmiwuks, shared an emotional Christmas message from a remote location in Mauritania, where he is spending his first holiday away from home, family, and Nigeria. The Benue State native, who embarked on an ambitious solo bicycle ride from Lagos to the United States earlier this year, described his surroundings as a “quiet desert island” with only the road, his thoughts, and the support of his followers for company.
In a heartfelt Facebook post, Emmiwuks wrote: “Merry Christmas, Family This is my first Christmas away from home… away from my family, and outside Nigeria. I’m spending it alone here on a quiet desert island in Mauritania, with nothing but the road, my thoughts, and your love keeping me company. It feels different. It feels emotional. But I’m grateful to still be here. If you’re reading this, you’re celebrating Christmas with me already. Thank you for being my family wherever I am.”
He continued with words of encouragement: “Congratulations. Eat and drink wisely. Together we Ride. Together we Rise. VIVA AFRICA.” The post, accompanied by festive graphics, included hashtags #NIG2USA #africa #christmastime #travel, reflecting his ongoing pan-African odyssey.
Emmiwuks’ journey, dubbed “NIG2USA on a Bicycle,” has captured widespread attention as he pedals through multiple African countries, promoting resilience, adventure, and unity. Having already crossed several borders—including from Gambia into Senegal earlier in the expedition—he is now navigating the vast Saharan expanses of Mauritania en route to Morocco, Europe, and eventually the Americas. His updates often highlight the challenges and beauty of the continent, inspiring followers with messages of perseverance and gratitude.
This solitary Christmas underscores the personal sacrifices behind his bold quest, yet his tone remains one of thankfulness and connection, reminding supporters that their encouragement forms his extended family on the road. As the journey continues, Emmiwuks’ story serves as a poignant reminder of human determination and the spirit of exploration during the holiday season.
