Construction on the highly anticipated High-Level Underpass in Makurdi, the capital of Benue State, has entered its final phase, with contractors now commencing the laying of the finishing asphalt layer.
The milestone development, observed during a recent site visit by Benue Info-pedia on Thursday, March 5, 2026, shows workers actively spreading asphalt across key sections of the underpass. Heavy-duty equipment has been deployed to guarantee a smooth, durable, and long-lasting road surface capable of withstanding heavy traffic.
The underpass project, designed to significantly reduce traffic congestion and improve urban mobility in one of Makurdi’s busiest corridors, has been eagerly awaited by residents and motorists. Upon completion, it is expected to provide a seamless flow of vehicles beneath the high-level intersection, easing gridlock and cutting travel time for thousands of daily commuters.
