A heartwarming video of a five-year-old boy thanking Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has earned the child a full scholarship covering his primary education.
Dominic Iorhemba, a pupil of Corona Private School in Makurdi, is currently in Kindergarten 3 and is set to begin Primary 1 in the next academic session. In the video, the young boy expressed deep appreciation to the governor for constructing the road leading to his family’s house in Makurdi and for ensuring the regular payment of workers’ salaries—actions that have positively affected his family’s welfare.
Curious about the boy after watching the clip, Governor Alia traced Dominic’s family and spoke with his mother. He learned that Dominic’s mother hails from Kwande while his father is from Konshisha. In a personal twist, the governor noted that his own mother is also from Kwande and that he himself comes from Konshisha.
Moved by the child’s innocence, gratitude and quiet confidence, the governor decided to place Dominic on a full scholarship from Primary 1 through Primary 6. From that day forward, he assumed complete responsibility for the boy’s school fees and all other educational expenses until Dominic completes his primary education.
“Sometimes, a simple expression of gratitude can open doors to unimaginable blessings,” the governor observed. The video of Dominic’s message continues to circulate widely, bringing smiles and reminding many that sincere appreciation can change a child’s future.
