In a powerful display of cross-cultural solidarity, the Igbo community across all 23 Local Government Areas of Benue State has thrown its full weight behind His Excellency Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, endorsing him for a second term as governor.

The endorsement was formally presented during a colorful ceremony where Dr. Raymond Asemakaha Jr., Group Managing Director of Benue Investment and Property Company (BIPC), stood in for Governor Alia. Leaders of the Igbo community, dressed in traditional red caps and attire, gathered to affirm their unwavering support for the administration’s people-centered policies and inclusive governance.

Speaking on behalf of the community, representatives praised Governor Alia for fostering peace, security, and economic opportunities that have benefited non-indigenes and indigenes alike. They highlighted his administration’s efforts in infrastructure development, youth empowerment, and agricultural transformation—initiatives they say have created a conducive environment for businesses, including those run by the Igbo diaspora in the state.

“We are not just residents; we are stakeholders in the progress of Benue. Governor Alia has shown that leadership is about service to all, regardless of tribe or tongue. That is why we are endorsing him for a second term,” a community leader reportedly stated.

The event, which drew hundreds of Igbo traders, professionals, and cultural groups, underscored the growing harmony between host communities and settlers in Benue—a state often praised for its hospitality but occasionally strained by farmer-herder conflicts and ethnic tensions.

Dr. Asemakaha, receiving the endorsement on behalf of the governor, expressed profound gratitude and assured the gathering that Governor Alia remains committed to policies that promote unity, equity, and shared prosperity. “This endorsement is a testament to the governor’s inclusive leadership. Benue is home to all who live and work here,” he said.

As the 2027 elections draw nearer, this early and enthusiastic backing from one of Nigeria’s most industrious ethnic groups sends a strong political signal. For Governor Alia, it’s a boost to his growing reputation as a bridge-builder in a diverse state.

The Igbo community’s vote of confidence is more than symbolic—it’s a call to action for continued collaboration in building a Benue where every resident thrives. With peace as the foundation and development as the goal, the Alia administration appears poised to consolidate its gains.

Benuestands united. The journey continues.
