The trial of Dr. Donatus Aondona Mkor, a former Special Adviser to the Benue State Governor on Documentation, Research and Planning, continued on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, before Justice M.O. Olajuwon of the Federal High Court sitting in Lafia, Nasarawa State.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) presented its second prosecution witness, Aluka Seembe, who gave a detailed account of how the defendant allegedly lured her into a compromising situation to obtain intimate knowledge of her private life. According to the witness’s testimony, the former aide used deception and manipulation to gain access to her personal information and images, which form part of the sextortion allegations leveled against him.

The prosecution is building its case around claims that Dr. Mkor exploited his position of influence to perpetrate the offense, with the witness narrating the sequence of events that led to her becoming a victim. The court heard how the defendant allegedly employed various tactics to draw her in before demanding or threatening to expose compromising material.

After hearing the witness, Justice Olajuwon adjourned the matter to March 19, 2026, for continuation of trial and further presentation of evidence by the EFCC. The adjournment allows both parties additional time to prepare for subsequent proceedings.

The case has drawn significant attention due to the high-profile nature of the defendant’s former role in the Benue State Government and the sensitive character of the sextortion charges. Sextortion—where perpetrators coerce victims into providing explicit content or money under threat of exposure—has become a growing concern in Nigeria, prompting increased scrutiny and prosecution efforts by anti-graft agencies.
