Suspected Fulani Herdsmen Set Classroom Block Ablaze at Benue Primary School, Destroy Seed Yams and Spark Panic

Residents of Akombo community in Logo Local Government Area of Benue State are living in fear after a classroom block at L.G.E.A Primary School was allegedly torched by suspected Fulani herdsmen on Tuesday evening, April 8, 2026.

The attack, which occurred near Anyiin, also destroyed valuable agricultural produce stored near the school, including large quantities of seed yams meant for the new planting season. Eyewitnesses reported hearing gunshots during the incident, which triggered widespread panic and forced many residents to flee their homes for safety.

According to local accounts, the fire completely gutted parts of the school infrastructure, leaving the affected classroom block severely damaged.
