Governor Hyacinth Alia Launches BIPC Eco-City Estate Project in Makurdi

The Benue State Government has taken a significant step toward addressing the housing crisis with the official launch of the Benue Investment and Property Company (BIPC) Eco-City Estate project in Makurdi. The foundation-laying ceremony, held at the former BBL Quarters, was officiated by Governor Hyacinth Alia, represented by his Deputy, Barr. Sam Ode (mni).

Governor Alia reiterated his administration’s commitment to making affordable housing a reality for residents. “Our vision is to transform Makurdi into a modern city that can compete with others across the world. We will also ensure road networks are constructed to make this estate easily accessible,” he assured during the event. He encouraged citizens and investors to take advantage of the project, commending BIPC’s innovative approach to real estate development.

Dr. Raymond Asemakaha (CFA), Group Managing Director of BIPC, outlined the project’s phases. The first and second phases will deliver 70 duplexes, while the third phase will focus on a low-income housing scheme. Additionally, BIPC has secured 30 hectares along Gboko Road to develop another estate targeting low-income earners.

The Secretary to the State Government, Dcns. Deborah Aber, praised BIPC for its bold steps in reshaping the housing sector. She highlighted the state’s collaboration with the Federal Mortgage Bank to provide affordable housing opportunities for civil servants.

Lucy Jato, General Manager of Real Estate and Infrastructure at BIPC, shared details about the Eco-City Estate, which will feature four-bedroom detached homes equipped with smart, modern facilities. This development aims to bridge the housing gap in Benue State while creating opportunities for both investors and residents.
