Governor Alia Approves Appointment of Dr. Nicodemus Terkaa Nombor as Rector of Akperan Orshi Polytechnic, Yandev

Benue State Governor, His Excellency Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has approved the appointment of Dr. Nicodemus Terkaa Nombor as the new Rector of Akperan Orshi Polytechnic, Yandev, with immediate effect.

The announcement was contained in a press release issued on Wednesday, March 4, 2026. Dr. Nombor, who holds a Doctorate in Animal Science/Production and boasts impressive professional credentials including RAS, MTRCN, and MNAEAP, brings a wealth of academic and administrative experience to the position.

Prior to this appointment, Dr. Nombor served as a Chief Lecturer in the Department of Animal Health and Production Technology at the same polytechnic. He had previously held several key roles within the institution, including Dean of the School of Animal Technology under the then College of Agriculture, Yandev. His earlier career also included a stint at the College of Education, Katsina-Ala, where he served as Head of the Department of Agricultural Education and was a member of the Academic Board.

Hailing from Vandeikya Local Government Area of Benue State, Dr. Nombor is married with children.

In approving the appointment, Governor Alia congratulated the new Rector and charged him to leverage his extensive experience in effectively leading the polytechnic. The Governor emphasized the need for Dr. Nombor to discharge his duties with utmost responsibility, dedication, and a focus on advancing academic excellence, infrastructure development, and overall institutional growth at Akperan Orshi Polytechnic.

The appointment is seen as part of the state government’s continued efforts to strengthen tertiary education and position its institutions for greater impact on human capital development and technological advancement in Benue State.
