Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has approved the appointment of Prof. Emmanuel Ayangarumun Kenen as the Acting Vice Chancellor of Fr. Adasu University, Makurdi (FAUM), marking a significant step in the leadership transition of the state-owned institution. The appointment, effective immediately, follows the recommendation of the University’s Governing Council and is in line with the provisions of the law establishing the university, as contained in Gazette No. 3, Vol. 45, Part III, 16 (11 & 12).
Announced on Monday, November 3, 2025, the decision limits Prof. Kenen’s acting tenure to a maximum of six months, during which he is expected to provide steady administrative and academic leadership. Governor Alia, who serves as the Visitor to the university, congratulated the new Acting Vice Chancellor and urged him to leverage his extensive academic experience, administrative competence, and visionary leadership to steer the institution through this transitional period.
In his charge, the Governor emphasized the need for Prof. Kenen to uphold the core values of excellence, discipline, innovation, and moral rectitude—hallmarks that define FAUM. He stressed that the university must continue to serve as a center of knowledge and character formation, producing graduates equipped to contribute meaningfully to the development of Benue State and Nigeria at large.
Governor Alia further assured the university community of his administration’s unwavering support, reiterating his commitment to repositioning tertiary education in the state for global competitiveness. This, he said, would be achieved through enhanced infrastructure, improved staff welfare, robust research development, and the maintenance of high academic standards.
The press release, signed by Tersoo Akula, mnipr, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, signals the administration’s proactive approach to ensuring stability and progress in one of Benue’s key tertiary institutions. As Prof. Kenen assumes office, stakeholders within and beyond the university community will be watching closely to see how his leadership shapes the institution’s trajectory in the coming months.
