In a state where grim headlines have become the daily norm, here’s a small but genuinely heartwarming story that reminds us decency is still alive in Benue.
Sometime around mid-November, an iPhone 11 was found abandoned near Food Domain restaurant along the ever-busy Makurdi metropolis. Instead of wiping it clean and flipping it at Computer Village or pawning it off on the black market (the sadly common route), an honest citizen picked it up, kept it safe, and today, 27th November 2025, turned it in at the B Division Police Station in Makurdi.
The phone is now in the custody of the police, fully functional and waiting for its rightful owner. Officers have put out a public notice: if you lost an iPhone 11 around Food Domain about two weeks ago, head to B Division with proof of ownership and take your device home, no questions asked, no bribes required.
In a week when we’ve buried three farmers brutally cut down in Gwer West, this simple act of integrity feels like a quiet protest against the darkness. One person decided that doing the right thing still matters, even when almost nobody would have blamed them for doing otherwise.
To the Good Samaritan, wherever you are tonight, thank you. You’ve given a lot of us a reason to smile amid the tears, and you’ve reminded every phone owner in Makurdi to double-check their pockets.
If the phone is yours, move fast; someone out there is rooting for you to get it back.
