Panic and distress have gripped residents of Anwase and Mbaikyor in Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State following reports of an ongoing attack involving the burning of homes.

A post circulating widely on social media from local account D’nkaded Elder Sughnen Yaayaa, timestamped February 6, 2026, described the situation as unfolding in real time. According to the update, suspected Fulani terrorists were actively setting houses ablaze in the affected communities, leaving villagers without immediate security assistance.

The account highlighted the absence of security personnel on ground to intervene or protect the residents, describing the people as “poor” and vulnerable amid the violence. An accompanying image showed several mud-brick and zinc-roofed structures engulfed in flames and thick smoke, with visible destruction to homes and surrounding property.
