On Monday, August 25, 2025, a wave of violence swept through Ayilamo, Logo Local Government Area of Benue State, Nigeria, leaving four people dead and numerous properties destroyed. According to local community leader Joseph Anawah, suspected armed herders carried out the attacks, targeting multiple settlements in the area.

Details of the Attack
The assailants reportedly struck at around 3:00 PM, setting fire to several deserted settlements, including Tse Mku. Among the victims were:
- Mr. Kaananfam Nyamikume, a resident of Tse Jigam village, was killed on his farmland near Ayilamo settlement.
- Mr. Mson, a medicine seller from Guma LGA, was also killed on the same day.
- Mr. Saaondo Mundu Azaye, a resident of Tse Azaye, was killed on August 24, 2025.
- An additional victim was found dead near Tse Uza settlement during a search for missing persons on Tuesday.

Anawah reported that two farmers remain missing, and residents, including youths from Ayilamo and nearby settlements, have been combing the area for answers. He further alleged that the attackers are camped in deserted settlements like Tse Ibor, Tse Ukpukuru, and others within the Mbawien clan.
Community in Mourning
The attacks have left the people of Tombu Council Ward reeling, with homes and livelihoods destroyed. The burning of settlements and the loss of lives have heightened fears among residents, many of whom are now grappling with the uncertainty of further violence.

Police Response
When contacted, DSP Udeme Edet, the spokesperson for the Benue State Police Command, requested time to verify the details of the incident. As of the latest reports, no further updates have been provided by the police.

This incident is part of a broader pattern of violence in Benue State, often linked to conflicts between herders and local farmers. The destruction of farmlands and settlements has exacerbated tensions, leaving communities vulnerable and calling for urgent action to address the security crisis.
