Chief Michael Kaase Aondoakaa, SAN, former Attorney General and Minister of Justice of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a press statement released on Saturday, March 28, 2026, Chief Aondoakaa formally notified the general public of his resignation, which took effect from March 28, 2026.

He stated that the decision followed careful reflection and wide consultations with his family, political associates, and supporters. While expressing gratitude for the opportunity to serve and contribute to the growth of the party at various levels, he noted that prevailing circumstances made it necessary for him to take this step in the overall interest of his people and democratic values.

Chief Aondoakaa expressed profound appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the visionary leadership he has continued to provide for the nation, as well as for the support and attention Benue State has enjoyed under his administration. He assured the President of his continued loyalty to the Renewed Hope Agenda.

He also deeply appreciated the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Dr. George Akume, for the quality leadership provided to the APC family in Benue State, and acknowledged his role in shaping the political landscape of the state.

Furthermore, Chief Aondoakaa thanked the leadership and members of the APC in Ushongo Local Government Area, the entire Benue State, and beyond for their cooperation and support over the years, describing the relationships built and experiences gathered as invaluable.

At this critical time, he called on all his supporters and associates to remain calm, peaceful, and steadfast. He promised that a new direction aimed at salvaging and repositioning Benue State in the best interest of the people would be communicated in due course.
