The Chief Medical Director of Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH) in Makurdi, Dr. Terungwa Stephen Hwande, has categorically dismissed speculations surrounding his potential resignation to pursue political office. Through his spokesperson, Comrade Tofi Simon Ternenge of the Alia/Hwande Support Groups 2027 and Director of New Media, Dr. Hwande emphasized his unwavering commitment to his current role at the helm of the state’s flagship teaching hospital.

Addressing recent rumors linking him to a senatorial bid in the 2027 general elections—particularly for the Benue North-East zone—Comrade Ternenge stated that Dr. Hwande has no plans to step down from his appointment as CMD. He described any talk of resignation or active political ambition as unfounded, declaring that all such interests, including a possible run for the Senate, have been “completely suspended.”

As of December 19, 2025, Dr. Hwande remains dedicated to advancing healthcare delivery in Benue State, putting to rest immediate speculations about a shift to national politics.
