In a bold move to combat graft, the Benue State House of Assembly has passed the Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission Bill into law. The landmark legislation, which completed its third reading on Monday under the leadership of Speaker Rt. Hon. Berger Alfred Embergba, establishes a commission aimed at regulating both public and private conduct while enhancing accountability.
The new law positions Benue State as a frontrunner among Nigeria’s states in the fight against corruption. Speaker Embergba praised the assembly members for their robust contributions, emphasizing the administration’s commitment to tackling corruption head-on. He highlighted the determination of Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia to restore public trust in governance.
The commission is expected to strengthen oversight and ensure transparency, marking a significant step forward in the state’s efforts to address systemic corruption. This development comes as a response to growing calls for accountability and good governance across the region.
