Aides to the Honourable Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Berger Alfred Emberger, received their official letters of appointment on Monday, October 13, 2025. The ceremony took place at the Cabinet office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dcns. Deborah Serumun Aber Esq., marking a significant step in strengthening the state’s legislative support team.
The newly appointed aides include Hon. Orsoja Yonguka as Chief of Staff, Hon. Michael Zape Upaa as Chief Press Secretary, and Hon. Yondu Edward as Senior Special Assistant on Protocol. Other appointees comprise Hon. Antyu Joseph Terzungwe (Senior Special Assistant, Special Duties), Hon. Lancelot Ordedoo Simons Msughter (Senior Special Assistant on Media), and Hon. Felix Obaka Agene (Special Assistant on Community Mobilization). Additionally, Hon. Agbo Sylvester serves as Personal Assistant to the Speaker on Photography and Hon. Louis Augustine Akile as Personal Assistant on Domestic Affairs.
Speaking on behalf of the aides, Chief of Staff Hon. Orshoija Yonguka expressed gratitude to the Honourable Speaker for deeming them worthy of their roles. He pledged that the appointees would serve with utmost decorum, sincerity, honesty, and loyalty to both the Speaker and the present administration in Benue State.
Yonguka also extended thanks to Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia for his purposeful and people-oriented leadership, which has driven significant development in the state within two years. He praised Alia’s selfless service and patriotism, assuring the Governor of the Speaker’s aides’ commitment to diligently contribute their wealth of experience to Benue’s development.
The appointments signal a renewed focus on enhancing the Speaker’s office and supporting the state’s legislative agenda, with the new team set to begin their duties immediately.
