A Benue Links vehicle with registration number PP1011 has been involved in a serious accident while travelling from Makurdi in Benue State to Lagos. The incident occurred in the Ile-Ife Local Government Area of Osun State, with the bus reportedly somersaulting five times before plunging into the bush.
According to an urgent appeal posted on social media by Kelvin Nash Lee on the TIVDOO platform barely 21 minutes ago, the accident has left several passengers as casualties. The post describes the vehicle as being badly damaged, with images showing the white Benue Links bus with red and green stripes lying on its side amid thick vegetation and scattered luggage.
The appeal is directed at the management of Benue Links and officials of the company’s head office in Osun State, urging them to respond immediately and provide assistance. A contact number, 09039308615, has been shared for anyone who can reach the appropriate authorities. The poster pleaded for “good Samaritans” to step in swiftly, noting that emergency numbers are not responding at all.
The vehicle was said to have been on its regular inter-state route when the crash happened. No official statement has yet been issued by Benue Links or the Osun State Police Command regarding the exact number of casualties or the cause of the accident. As of the time of this report, rescue efforts appear to be relying heavily on public appeals due to the delayed response from emergency services.
This latest road mishap involving a commercial bus once again underscores the dangers faced by travellers on Nigeria’s busy inter-state highways. Further details are expected as authorities and company officials reach the scene.
