Nigerian long-distance adventurer and cyclist Emmiwuks has announced a temporary pause in his ambitious solo cycling journey from Nigeria to the United States, revealing plans to return home briefly to address critical personal and logistical issues.
The Benue State-born rider, who has been chronicling every leg of his remarkable transcontinental expedition, made the difficult decision while in Mauritania. He cited the need to resolve matters involving travel documents, medical treatment, visa interviews, and other essential requirements.
In an update shared with his supporters on January 5, 2026, Emmiwuks addressed concerns raised by his nearly week-long silence, explaining that intense behind-the-scenes challenges had made regular communication difficult. “For almost seven days, I went quiet, and honestly, it’s because behind the scenes hasn’t been easy at all. A lot was happening that I couldn’t really put out there,” he stated.
Despite the setback, Emmiwuks expressed optimism and gratitude, confirming that arrangements are progressing smoothly and he is already en route back to Nigeria to handle the outstanding issues. He thanked Nigerians both at home and abroad for their unwavering prayers, messages, and support throughout the journey, stressing that this pause is only temporary.
“This journey is far from over. We keep moving forward. Together we ride. Together we rise,” he affirmed, signing off with a resolute declaration: “Naija here I come.”
Supporters have praised the expedition for inspiring a new generation of young Nigerians, demonstrating extraordinary resilience and determination. With high expectations surrounding his return, the cycling community eagerly awaits Emmiwuks’ resumption of this historic ride that continues to capture national imagination.
