The Benue State House of Assembly has made a significant move in the fight against corruption by passing the Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commissions Bill into law. The bill was officially enacted on Monday, September 22, 2025, following a third reading during a plenary session presided over by the Honourable Speaker, Rt. Hon. Berger Alfred Embergera, KQs.
The passage of the bill comes after a recent public hearing convened by the house at the assembly complex. This event brought together critical stakeholders and sector players to provide insight and feedback on the proposed agency. The new law aims to regulate both private and public lives, positioning Benue State on the global map as one of the states taking bold steps in the war against corruption.
While appreciating members for their robust contributions, the Honourable Speaker emphasized that the APC-led administration of His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, is determined to tackle corruption head-on. He noted that once signed, the bill will strengthen accountability, promote justice, and restore public confidence in governance.
This landmark legislation marks a pivotal moment for Benue State, reflecting the assembly’s commitment to fostering transparency and integrity in public administration.
