The Benue State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has successfully concluded its ward congresses with an unprecedented level of peace and harmony, as declared by the official Ward Congress Appeal Committee.
In a statement released on Thursday, February 19, 2026, the committee announced that the entire process—from accreditation to election of new ward executives—was completed without a single verbal or written petition. The development has been hailed as one of the most peaceful and transparent elective congresses in the history of the APC in Benue State.
The absence of any formal grievances or disputes stands in sharp contrast to previous party exercises in the state, which were often marred by allegations of irregularities, factional clashes, and legal challenges. Party stakeholders and observers attribute the smooth conduct to improved internal coordination, adherence to guidelines issued by the national leadership, and a deliberate emphasis on unity ahead of future electoral cycles.
The successful congresses are seen as a significant step toward consolidating the party structure at the grassroots level, especially following months of internal tensions between rival camps within the Benue APC. The outcome is expected to strengthen preparations for the 2027 general elections and send a positive signal about the chapter’s readiness to present a united front.
While the Appeal Committee’s declaration marks the formal closure of the ward-level process, attention now shifts to the upcoming local government and state congresses, where similar peace and transparency will be keenly watched. Party leaders have described the achievement as a testament to renewed commitment to internal democracy, inclusivity, and collective progress within the Benue APC.
