Allegations of Human Trafficking Surface Against Benue Woman Sharon Nadoo Shiter

A serious accusation of human trafficking has emerged against a woman identified as Sharon Nadoo Shiter from Zaki-Biam and Gboko areas in Benue State. In a Facebook post dated January 7, 2026, social activist D’naked Elder Sughnen Yaaya claimed that Sharon is actively involved in trafficking young girls from Benue to Ghana via Lagos.

According to the post, Sharon allegedly received ₦72,500 into her Opay account (9167209222) from a Ghanaian POS operator named Ugwu Chukwuemeka Evans on December 28, 2025, as payment for transporting two girls from Lagos to Ghana through another agent. The activist stated that Sharon has trafficked multiple girls to Ghana in the past and is currently on the run, with her present location believed to be in Gboko.

Yaaya further mentioned that he had previously contacted Sharon’s parents in Kyadoo and instructed them to hand her over to the police for transfer to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) office in Makurdi. He urged anyone with information on her whereabouts to come forward, describing her as one of several agents operating in motor parks across the state.

The post included a photograph of a young woman presumed to be Sharon Nadoo Shiter, alongside a screenshot of the alleged bank transaction. As of now, the claims remain unverified by law enforcement, and no official statement has been issued by NAPTIP or the police regarding the case.

Human trafficking continues to be a pressing concern in Nigeria, with Benue State often cited as a source area due to economic vulnerabilities. Activists have warned that 2026 could see heightened activity, calling for increased vigilance in transport hubs and communities. Authorities are yet to respond publicly to these specific allegations.
