A female student from Government Secondary School (GSS) Gboko in Benue State sustained serious injuries in a road accident on Wednesday morning while heading to school.
The student, identified as Adagi Wueseter, was reportedly involved in the crash within the Gboko area. Eyewitnesses at the scene indicated that her identity was established through school books discovered in her bag after the incident.
Local residents who assisted at the accident site quickly rushed the injured student to Favour Medical Center in Gboko, where she is currently receiving treatment. Sources at the medical facility revealed that she is presently unable to speak, which has complicated efforts by healthcare workers and concerned community members to reach her parents or relatives.
In response to the situation, residents and others at the clinic have appealed to the public to help spread the word, especially within Gboko and across Benue State. The hope is that circulating this information will enable her family or guardians to be located and contacted as soon as possible.
They have specifically urged anyone who recognizes the student or knows her family to visit Favour Medical Center in Gboko for more details or to provide assistance in connecting with her relatives.
This incident highlights the ongoing risks faced by students commuting to school on Nigerian roads, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas. Authorities and community leaders continue to call for greater caution and improved road safety measures to prevent such occurrences.
Further updates on her condition and any developments in locating her family will be monitored as more information becomes available.
