Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia has approved the appointment of Professor Timothy Terseer Alabar as the new Vice-Chancellor of Father Adasu University, Makurdi (FAUUM).
The approval, announced today by Sir Tersoo Kula, mnipr, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Benue State, follows due process carried out by the university’s Governing Board and other relevant authorities. The appointment takes immediate effect.
Professor Alabar, a Professor of Marketing, hails from Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State. He began his academic career at Father Adasu University in 1999 and has remained with the institution ever since. Over the years, he has held several key leadership positions, including:
– Dean, Faculty of Administration and Management
– Acting Vice-Chancellor
– Acting Vice-Chancellor and Head, Department of Business Management
– Acting Chairman, Consultant Services
– Director, Centre for Entrepreneurship Studies
– Deputy Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences
– Coordinator, Postgraduate Diploma in Management, Department of Business Management
– Examination Officer, Postgraduate Diploma in Management
At the time of his appointment as Vice-Chancellor, Professor Alabar was serving as Dean of the Postgraduate School at FAUUM.
In his remarks, Governor Alia congratulated the new Vice-Chancellor and charged him to provide visionary, ethical, and inclusive leadership. The Governor emphasized the need to advance academic excellence, foster cutting-edge research, nurture both character and competence, uphold the autonomy and integrity of the university, promote a culture of merit, innovation, and accountability, and ensure prudent stewardship of human and material resources.

The appointment is expected to bring fresh momentum to Father Adasu University, a private institution named after the late Very Rev. Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu, former Governor of Benue State and Catholic priest, as it continues to grow its academic programmes and contribute to higher education in the state.
