Benue State Governor, H.E. Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormemem Alia, has once again restated his administration’s unwavering resolve to complete the ongoing construction of the strategic Awajir-Oju road, assuring residents of the area that the project remains a top priority.
The Governor made the declaration on Saturday, January 3, 2026, in Oju during the 20th anniversary celebration of the Alochochu Foundation and the formal inauguration of the Alochochu political support group for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Alia’s 2027 re-election bid. Represented by his Deputy, H.E. Barr. Dr. Sam Ode, mni, Governor Alia emphasized that his government is fully committed to fulfilling all campaign promises made to the people of Benue State.
He further hinted at plans to convene a town hall meeting with residents of Oju in the near future to identify and prioritize additional community development projects for implementation.
The Governor commended the founder of the Alochochu Foundation, High Chief Francis Alochochu Ikpobou, describing him as a humble, compassionate, and consistent advocate for the welfare of his community and humanity at large. He expressed appreciation for Chief Alochochu’s establishment of the political support group, encouraging him to sustain his efforts in supporting leadership and promoting societal development.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Chief Francis Alochochu revealed that the foundation was established in 2004 with the primary mission of giving back to society. He expressed profound gratitude to God for sustaining the vision over the past two decades and explained that the formation of the support group for President Tinubu and Governor Alia in 2027 is his modest way of appreciating their exemplary leadership while strategically working to secure their victory in the upcoming elections.
The anniversary event featured substantial empowerment initiatives and donations by the Alochochu Foundation, including cash gifts presented to 150 retired ministers of God and the donation of two buses to strengthen the operations of the newly inaugurated political support group.
The celebration attracted a distinguished gathering of government officials, including the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Barr. Moses Atagher, commissioners, and members of the Benue State House of Assembly.
His Royal Majesty, Dr. Eliagwu Odogbo, the Och’Idoma, lauded Chief Alochochu’s philanthropic initiatives and significant contributions to societal upliftment. The paramount ruler called on the people of Benue South to foster unity, stressing that such solidarity would benefit the entire zone and the state as a whole.
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, represented by Dr. Benjamin Omale, the APC chairman in Benue State, extended gratitude to Chief Alochochu for his impactful charitable work and dedication to improving the livelihoods of his people.
The event underscored the synergy between philanthropy, community development, and political support, as stakeholders rallied behind continued leadership and progress in Benue State.
