In a heartfelt press statement released on Sunday, November 9, 2025, the Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has extended his deepest appreciation to the Ijir Tamen I Tiv, the Supreme Council of the Tiv Nation, for their endorsement of his bid for a second term in office. The endorsement, led by the Supreme Leader of the Tiv Nation, His Royal Majesty, Orchivirigh Prof. James Iorzua Ortese Ayatse, Tor Tiv V, has been described by the Governor as a “historic pronouncement and unique gesture” that is both humbling and deeply inspiring.
Governor Alia emphasized that this support from the apex traditional authority of the Tiv Nation represents an overwhelming vote of confidence in his leadership, integrity, and the transformative strides already witnessed across Benue State under his administration. He sincerely appreciates Ijir Tamen for identifying and acknowledging the tremendous work done so far in transforming Benue on the path of development, peace, and prosperity.
The Governor remains ever committed to his covenant with the people, vowing to rebuild, renew, and restore Benue with transparency, equity, and compassion. “This endorsement by the Tiv Supreme Council reaffirms the unity, wisdom, and foresight of our revered traditional institution,” he stated. “It is also a testament to the collective resolve of the Tiv people and indeed all Benue citizens to consolidate on the progress we are making and to ensure continuity of good governance.”
His Excellency assured the Tor Tiv and the entire Ijir Tamen I Tiv that this honour will only strengthen his dedication to serve with even greater zeal, humility, and accountability. He reiterated his pledge to continue promoting inclusivity, fairness, and sustainable development for every community across Benue State.
The Government once again expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Ijir Tamen I Tiv, the six ruling houses of Kwande, Jemgbagh, Lobi, Jechira, Gwer, and Sankera, and the entire Tiv Nation for this show of love, trust, and solidarity. “Together, as the Almighty God continues to reign, we will forge ahead to make Benue a land of peace, progress, and shared prosperity,” the statement concluded.
