The narrative unfolding in Benue State is a striking contrast between malice and mandate, as highlighted by Benue State Network News. While some choose to spread negativity, Governor Hyacinth Alia is steadfastly focused on a mission of infrastructural and institutional renewal, drawing parallels to the biblical story of Nehemiah.
The governor’s administration is portrayed as a divine mandate to rebuild the broken walls of governance in a state long plagued by decay and lost glory. Much like Nehemiah, who faced opposition from Sanballat and Tobiah while reconstructing Jerusalem’s walls, Governor Alia encounters detractors who mock his efforts and wish him ill. Yet, his response mirrors Nehemiah’s resolve: “I am doing a great work and I cannot come down.”
Recent reports reveal Alia’s commitment to progress, with his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula, noting the governor’s recent schedule in Abuja. Far from petty squabbles, Alia engaged in a crucial meeting with the MD/CEO of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) to light up dark villages, met with national APC leadership, and secured Benue’s interests at the federal level through the Governors’ Forum and National Chairman.
Despite hateful wishes from some quarters, including public calls for his demise, the masses of Benue stand firmly behind him. Supporters believe the same divine guidance that brought him to power will ensure his success, predicting he will complete his eight-year tenure in robust health and lead Benue to prosperity. Critics’ malicious intent, they argue, will be rendered powerless.
