The Benue State Local Government Service Commission (LGSCC) has announced a screening exercise for staff employed in 2011 and 2012 but later removed from the government payroll. The initiative, detailed in a confidential circular dated October 10, 2025, aims to authenticate employment records and reinstate genuine workers who were wrongly disengaged.
The screening is scheduled to take place at the LGSC Headquarters in Makurdi and other designated venues from October 20 to October 29, 2025, covering all 23 Local Government Areas. A follow-up exercise is also planned for October 30 to November 1, 2025, for Zones A, B, and C. Local Government Chairmen across the state have been directed to mobilize affected staff for the process.
The circular, signed by the Director of Administration and Finance, Owoidcho Odeh, on behalf of the Commission’s Chairman, emphasizes that the screening will only cover staff whose names appear on the approved list. No cases outside this list will be entertained. Staff are urged to adhere strictly to the timetable to ensure a seamless exercise.
Required documents for the screening include:
1. First appointment letter
2. Confirmation letter (if confirmed)
3. Last promotion letter
4. Local government of origin certificate
5. Birth certificate or declaration of age
6. All academic qualifications
7. Any valid ID card
8. Account number
9. BVN
10. Bank name
11. NIN
The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) Chairmen in all LGAs have been tasked with assisting in mobilizing the affected staff. The LGSC noted that the exercise is part of a broader effort to verify employment authenticity and address payroll discrepancies.
The announcement concludes with gratitude expressed to His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, PhD, for his leadership. Concerned staff are encouraged to avail themselves for the screening and comply with the outlined guidelines to facilitate a smooth process.
