The Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Benue State Chapter, and Executive Chairman of Katsina-Ala Local Government Council, Rt. Hon. Dr. Shaku Justine, has donated a vehicle to Aondongu Peter Suleagbough, a Benue-born peace advocate and freedom fighter, to ease his mobility while he advises him to stay away from politics and remain focused on his rescue mission.
The gesture is aimed at supporting Suleagbough’s efforts to combat insecurity in Katsina-Ala, Sankera and neighbouring communities, with the hope that peace will return to the troubled areas. Shaku praised Suleagbough for his courageous commitment to the peace initiative and described his intervention as a contribution to the collective fight against criminality.
In his response, Suleagbough expressed deep appreciation to Shaku for the donation and continued support, pledging to remain committed to the peace mission until lasting security is restored across the affected communities. He emphasised the importance of sustained cooperation among stakeholders in addressing insecurity and creating a safer environment for residents.
Shaku also assured residents of Katsina-Ala that security efforts are being intensified, expressing optimism that the people would celebrate the forthcoming yuletide in a peaceful and secure atmosphere. He noted that the burning of his own vehicle in Agasha by a group of Nongov youths is an act of discouragement that he cannot stand and watch in silence, saying the entire Tiv Nation is behind him and praying for his success.
The ALGON chairman commended Suleagbough’s voluntary commitment to the peace initiative, urging him to remain focused on the primary objective of restoring lasting peace and security across Sankera and adjoining communities.
The vehicle was presented to Suleagbough in the presence of community leaders and stakeholders, with Peace must return back to Sankera serving as a rallying call for the peace mission.
