The Benue State Government is deeply aware of the hardship that the interruption of electricity supply has caused our people. Families, traders, artisans, students, hospitals and small businesses are all affected, and we feel your pain.
His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Benue State, has directed that this matter be resolved without delay. Government is also engaging the Jos Electricity Distribution Plc, security agencies and other relevant stakeholders to restore normal supply as quickly as possible.
On the events that led to the disconnection, the Government has stated its position clearly and maintains that the allegations made against it are unfounded. At the same time, we condemn violence against any person or institution in Benue State. Anyone who disrupts the rule of law or threatens public safety will be held accountable.
We urge JED and the electricity workers’ union to act in the interest of the millions of innocent Benue citizens who are suffering. Government will give the assurances needed for staff to work safely, and we ask that supply be restored while any disagreements are resolved through dialogue.
The people of Benue State deserve light, security, accountability and responsible governance. The administration remains committed to resolving this crisis and restoring normal electricity supply to every part of the state without further delay.
