The Commissioner of Police, Benue State Command, has announced the appointment of DSP Orchia Peter Aondongu as the new Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command. The appointment was approved by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM.
DSP Aondongu was commissioned as an Assistant Superintendent of Police on 19 December 2019 after successfully completing a five-year cadet training programme at the Nigerian Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Accounting.
Following his commissioning, he served in various capacities, including One-Year Attachment at ‘B’ Division, Lafia; Divisional Crime Officer, ‘C’ Division, Lafia; Second-in-Command, Commissioner of Police Crack Squad, State Headquarters, Lafia; Patrol and Guard Officer, Kadarko Division; Divisional Crime Officer, Obi Division; Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Benue State Command; and until his appointment, Divisional Police Officer, ‘C’ Division, North Bank, Makurdi. He has also attended several professional courses, including the Combat Operations Course of the Mobile Police Force at ILA-ORAGUN, as well as media and public relations capacity-building programmes organised by development partners and other stakeholder organisations.
The Commissioner of Police, Benue State Command, CP Cletus C.N. Nwadiobu psc(+), mnips, PhD, congratulated the newly appointed Police Public Relations Officer and expressed confidence in his ability to effectively coordinate the Command’s public communications, strengthen police-media relations, and enhance public confidence through timely, accurate and professional dissemination of information.
