Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia has approved the appointment of Dr. Anya Godwin Ngbajime as a Member of the Benue State House of Assembly Service Commission, subject to confirmation by the Benue State House of Assembly.
The appointment, announced on Monday, July 20, 2026, fills the vacancy created by the removal of the former member, Dorcas Faeren Mbatiav. It aligns with the Governor’s commitment to strengthening governance through the appointment of competent and experienced individuals to key public institutions.
Dr. Ngbajime, a core unionist, seasoned administrator, and accomplished public servant, hails from Mbaivende in Ushongo Local Government Area of Benue State. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Technical Education, a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration and Planning, and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Educational Administration.
His career began with the Local Teaching Service Commission before he joined the Benue State Civil Service, where he rose through the ranks. He later served as Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) in Benue State for two terms and as State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress for two terms.
Governor Alia expressed confidence that Dr. Ngbajime’s wealth of experience, integrity, and leadership qualities will significantly enhance the effectiveness and performance of the Benue State House of Assembly Service Commission. The Governor has forwarded his name to the House of Assembly for confirmation in accordance with the law.
