NKST Pastor and Two Church Members Abducted in Benue State

Gunmen have abducted a pastor, Rev. Dr. Samuel Gbindé, along with two members of his congregation in Benue State.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, June 30, 2026, when the victims were taken from the pastor’s residence at NKST Church, Andyar, in the Ishan Classis area of the state.

In a statement signed by the NKST General Secretary, Rev. Dr. T. A. Targba, the church described the abduction as unfortunate and called on its clergy, members, congregations, and the general public to join in fervent prayers for the safe and unconditional release of Rev. Dr. Gbindé and the two church members.

The statement also expressed sympathy with the affected families and the congregation, praying that God would grant them strength, comfort, and hope during this difficult period.

The NKST urged relevant security agencies, as well as the Benue State and Federal Governments, to act swiftly to secure the victims’ rescue and ensure that those behind the abduction are apprehended and brought to justice.

The church further called on both levels of government to adopt more proactive and sustained measures to tackle kidnapping and other forms of insecurity, emphasizing the need to prevent such crimes rather than merely responding after they occur.

As of July 1, 2026, the victims are yet to be released, and prayers continue for their safe return.
